Department of Civil Engineering, SUB admits new students in two semesters within a year; i.e., Fall (typically July to December) and Spring (typically January to June) for getting a full-time four-year B. Sc. in Civil Engineering degree.
The department enrolls students in an undergraduate program who have 12 (Twelve) years of schooling and can fulfill the following minimum acceptable criteria:
Eligible Criteria for The British Curriculum:
Candidates passing the GCE “O” level must have a minimum of five subjects (including Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry) and in GCE “A” level, candidates must have a minimum of two subjects (Mathematics & Physics). Moreover, the candidates must earn B grade (GPA 4.00) from a minimum of four subjects and C grade (GPA 3.50) from the remaining three subjects in the above mentioned two examinations of GCE “O” level and GCE “A” level.
Eligible Criteria for The National Curriculum:
1. Mandatory courses are Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for H.S.C and Diploma in engineering background students.
2. Candidates obtaining a minimum GPA 2.50 (in the scale of 5.00) in both S.S.C and H.S.C or other examinations equivalent to S.S.C and H.S.C or CGPA 2.50 (in the scale of 4.00) in Diploma in Engineering will get chance to face admission test. Additionally, if a candidate has a minimum GPA of 2 in any examination (S.S.C or H.S.C) then she/he must have a total GPA of 6 in S.S.C and H.S.C combined together. The children of freedom fighters having a minimum total GPA of 5 in S.S.C and H.S.C combined together or in equivalent examinations will get a chance to face admission test. The candidates who came out successful in the admission test will be allowed to get admission in the B.Sc. in Civil Engineering program.
3. A student desiring to get credit transferred to the Department of Civil Engineering, SUB from other recognized university (BAETE / IEB Accredited Program) may get credit transferred from certain courses provided she/he has satisfactory performance (measured by a minimum grade of B: 3 Points) in courses considered equivalent to corresponding courses at SUB, as decided by the Equivalence Committee of SUB. A transfer student pursuing a Civil Engineering degree at SUB can be exempted a maximum of 50% credit hours from the total credit hours of the four years degree course. The transfer students from the non-accredited program must commence the program (B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at SUB) from 1st year and 1st semester.
