Welcome to the Department of Pharmacy, Southern University Bangladesh. We are offering an excellent learning environment for quality pharmacy education. Department of Pharmacy is running an undergraduate program- Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) through an integrated course curriculum. Our students can attend lectures in modern classrooms, do research in well-equipped laboratories, enjoy the campus life with diverse co and extracurricular activities and prepare themselves for a bright future in the competitive world.

Academic Programs

Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.)

Pharmacy is a multidisciplinary subject. The good practice of pharmacy today is one of the most crucial components in providing proper healthcare services worldwide. Department of Pharmacy, Southern University Bangladesh was established in 2006 and has designed an undergraduate program to produce competent graduates capable of meeting the challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare sector.

The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm, 4 years Honors) comprises of 163 credits approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB).We have qualified faculty members, well equipped research facilities, internet access and library containing large collection of books, articles, and journals. Our faculties work on different research projects with students and publish research articles in distinguished journals on a regular basis, along with teaching and other extracurricular activities. Using innovative, amicable and interactive techniques, we make pharmacy education exciting for the students.

This program is designed specifically for students who wish to pursue a career in different areas of drug discovery, formulation development, drug manufacturing, pharmaceutical marketing, hospital and clinical pharmacy, scientific research, and higher education and teaching. The goal of Department of Pharmacy’s Bachelor degree program is to offer the students opportunity to obtain a high-quality education for personal growth and professional advancement.

Semester system: Bi semester (six months/semester)

Student Admission Policy

Eligibility for admission in B. Pharm. according to the Guidelines of Pharmacy Council Bangladesh:

  • Candidate must have a minimum aggregate GPA 6.50 in SSC/ “O” level or equivalent and HSC/ “A” level or equivalent examinations (in a total scale of 10).
  • Candidate must pass SSC/ “O” level or recognized equivalents and HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalents in Science Group and obtain a minimum GPA 3.0 (in a scale of 5) without any additional subject.
  • Candidate must pass HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalent examination with a minimum GPA 3.0 in Chemistry and Biology separately and a minimum GPA 2.0 in Mathematics (in a scale of 5).
  • Candidate must pass HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalent examination in current year or one previous year.
  • Foreign students must have passed 12 education years and got same grades in equivalent examinations from foreign recognized institutions.
  • The student must pass HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalents with the following science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
  • However, candidates having no Mathematics at the HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalents may be admitted, but they need to take an extra 3 (three) credits course on Mathematics relevant to B. Pharm. curriculum.
  • Admission should be based on competitive written test evaluations. In addition to written test, an oral test may be taken for further assessment.
